Rabbi Paula joined the BJE staff as Executive Director in 2011. Originally from Wausau, Wisconsin, Rabbi Paula graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1980. She received her Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1983 and MBA in 2008.
One Fun Fact: Rabbi Paula is a fiber fanatic. She has a farm in upstate New York where she raises sheep and uses their wool for spinning yarn.
Cantor Judy Meyersberg joined the BJE family in 1997. Origianlly from Spokane, Washington, Cantor Meyersberg earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano and Voice Performance from the Peabody Institute of John Hopkins University. She earned her Masters of Sacred Music from the School of Sacred Music at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1992.
One Fun Fact: In the summer, Cantor Meyersberg enjoys water sports, gardening and travel.
Alexander Beauford joined the BJE staff as Communications & Administration Assistant in 2015. Beauford graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in Communications/Public Relations. A passionate communicator, he is excited to help improve communications of the BJE.
Alexander, also known as Mr. Beauford wears many hats at the BJE. Not only is he Communications & Admiration Assistant, he teaches Kitah Bet in the BJE’s Hebrew School program.
One Fun Fact: Beauford is also a private violin instructor and plays all kinds of music, from klezmer to classical and jazz.
Mr. Calili joined the BJE family in 2013. Originally from Petah Tikva, Israel, he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Economics from Bar Ilan University Israel. Mr. Calili is an adjunct instructor at the department of mathematical sciences at IUPUI.
Mr. Cohen joined the BJE family in 1980. Originally from Be’er Sheva, Israel, he earned both his Bachelor’s degree and Teaching Certificate from Hebrew University in 1972 and 1976, respectively. Mr. Cohen earned his Masters in Counseling/Psychology from Butler University in 1981.
Tamar David joined the BJE staff as a Hebrew School Teacher and BJE food service manager in August of 2013. Tamar was born in Israel and moved to Indianapolis in 1991 to attend Butler University. She received her B.S. in Finance in 1997.
One Fun Fact: Miss David is also an excellent cook and gardener.
Mrs. David-Smith has been part of the BJE family since 1992. Originally from B’nai Barak, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics & Literature from Seminar HaKibutzim in 1989. She earned her Masters in Telecommunication Arts from Butler University in 1996.
One Fun Fact: Mrs. David-Smith enjoys playing tennis and travelling.
Jeffery Linkon was recently named the new Regional Director for BBYO’s KIO Region, serving teens in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. He is also an Indianapolis native and has been with the BJE since 2014, where he started as a Hebrew school teacher. This year, he will be working with bar/bat mitzvah students on their Hebrew.
One Fun Fact: His wife’s great grandfather was one of the first 50 settlers of Tel Aviv and the city’s 1st mohel (the person who performs circumcisions).
Mrs. Roland joined the BJE family in 1982. Originally from Afula, Israel, she earned her Bachelors degree in Hebrew Grammar and Bible as well as her Teaching Certification from Haifa University in 1982.
Shay Wallach, is an Israeli native who moved to Indianapolis from Tel Aviv in 2014. After 6 months of working with Bar/Bat Mitzvah students at the BJE, Shay joined our team as a Hebrew school teacher.
One Fun Fact: During his three years of service in the IDF, Shay served as a drill sergeant with the artillery force.
Dawn Meyers has been with the BJE since 2010. Originally from Peru, Ind., Dawn enjoys swimming and other outdoor activities. Since she’s joined the BJE staff, we know we can always count on her smiling face offering us coffee in the mornings and the kids look forward to seeing her as she picks them up from their day schools to attend Hebrew School.
In her spare time, she dog sits to suit her love of animals.
One fun fact: She number six of ten children, totaling in at: eight girls and two boys.
Detrise Williams is a Chicago native who relocated to Indianapolis seven years ago. She joined the BJE staff in 2015 as our receptionist. She has two kids and two grandchildren and volunteers for the Indiana Special Olympics in her spare time. “D” as everyone calls her, is a huge advocate for children, especially ones with autism, having raised her now 27-year-old son who has autism.
One Fun fact: D aspires to open her own restaurant one day and enjoys the great recipes Jewish cuisine has to offer.
