Tours of the Albert and Sara Reuben Holocaust Memorial Garden

Alfred Tibor, who lost his entire family in the Holocaust, designed the memorial. He changed his last name to Tibor in honor of his brother.

The sculpture starts with images of barbed wire and suffering people. As you raise your eyes, you see an American soldier and the people begin to look stronger. At the top are the survivors, and a child is being passed to them. The Star of David at the top shows that the Jewish people lives and the State of Israel is their homeland.

The base of the monument is six-sided like the star. It is inscribed with the names of some death camps and concentration camps. The Mourner’s Kaddish is part of the Memorial as well as a poem and a quotation from Elie Wiesel.

Guided tours of the Albert and Sara Reuben Holocaust Memorial are available during good weather months by contacting Miles Roger at 255-3124 ext. 3705 or via e-mail.
